Position Summary

The Commercial Lead – France will be responsible for developing and providing commercial management of key account relationships for ExCellThera’s soon to be approved one-time curative cell therapy product to treat blood cancers at hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) centres located in France. The responsibilities could be extended to other Western European markets (starting with the UK and The Netherlands) when business needs arise.

This is a highly visible role with significant responsibilities. It requires the ability to multitask, get involved in the details, articulate, and summarize strategy and performance, and be the decision lead on commercial topics as they arise.

This is a field position based in France.

The Commercial Lead – France will:

  • Map and prioritize key transplant centres and key transplant physicians and therapeutic area experts (TAEs) ) based on commercial potential and opportunities with priority given to France
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key transplant centers and payers to understand their needs and assist in determining optimal reimbursement conditions
  • With the assistance of ExCellThera’s legal and administrative department, develop, negotiate and implement:commercial supply agreements for key transplant centres and payers
  • workflows of early access and commercial supply (e.g., ordering, supplying, invoicing, performance, forecasts, retention, and renewals)
  • Work cross-functionally with medical affairs, clinical and market access to ensure that customer programs and services effectively transition from signed opportunity to commercial product launch and use
  • Ensure launch readiness and execute on commercial tactics
  • Deliver on sales objectives, and work with manufacturing to secure timely product supply to key transplant centres
  • Track and analyse market trends and performance as well as competitive HSCT activity
  • Analyze country-level health policy changes, map evolving reimbursement requirements by payer or country and anticipate cost containment risks
  • Work closely with senior management to identify and pursue revenue opportunities while being responsible for sales metrics tracking, reporting, and forecasting
  • Ensure that all activities are executed in accordance with local regulatory, ethical, and legal frameworks as well as ExCellThera policies and compliance procedures


  • Licence or Master’s degree in related field
  • 5+ years experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry in France
  • Sales and market access experience
  • Ability to travel within France, Europe and Canada

Preferred skills and abilities:

  • Relevant knowledge of cell therapy or biologic products in France and/or Europe
  • Clinical experience in treatment setting is a plus
  • Knowledgeable about the pharmaceutical commercialisation processes and practices
  • Knowledgeable about market access/HTA requirements and reimbursement processes
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in French and English
  • Strong interpersonal skills in interactions with highly educated MDs
  • Transplant physician and patient focused with ability to discuss relevant clinical outcomes relating to blood cancers and HSCT
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and products simultaneously to ensure timely, on-target and within budget accomplishment of tasks
  • Ability to work effectively with medical affairs and market access
  • Knowledgeable about the French laws, regulations, guidelines, and specifications relevant to HSCT activity
  • Knowledge of the UK and Dutch markets is an asset
